In 2025, China's annual timber output reached approximately 140 million cubic meters, with the output value of wood processing and wood/bamboo product manufacturing reaching RMB 3.4 trillion, demonstrating a stable growth trend. In 2025, China's total merchandise export value was approximately US$3.77 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. Among this, the export value of wood and bamboo products was US$39.19 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.4%.
1. Plywood
In 2025, China's plywood export value was US$5.169 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.9%. Australia ranked as the top export destination with US$387 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%. Exports to Malaysia reached US$229 million, showing a significant increase of 44%.
2. Fiberboard
In 2025, China's fiberboard export value was US$1.557 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%. Vietnam, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico were the top export destinations, with export values of US$143 million, US$132 million, US$116 million, and US$115 million respectively. Exports to Vietnam increased by 31.0% year-on-year, while exports to the United States decreased by 21.1% year-on-year.
3. Particleboard
In 2025, China's particleboard export value was US$378 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.7%. South Korea, Taiwan (China), and Vietnam were the top export destinations, with export values of US$40 million, US$39 million, and US$30 million respectively. Exports to South Korea showed a substantial year-on-year increase of 643.4%.
4. Wooden Doors
In 2025, China's wooden door export value was US$789 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%. The United States was the largest export destination, with US$150 million, a year-on-year decrease of 15.2%. This was followed by the United Kingdom and Hong Kong (China), with export values of US$86 million and US$85 million, respectively.
5. Wood and Bamboo Furniture (Including Seating Furniture) and Parts Thereof
In 2025, China's export value of wood and bamboo furniture (including seating furniture) and parts thereof was US$22.776 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%.
Wooden Bedroom Furniture: Export value was US$3.497 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8.9%. Exports to the United States were US$799 million, a year-on-year decrease of 16.4%. This was followed by the United Kingdom and Australia, with export values of US$309 million and US$263 million, respectively.
Wooden Kitchen Furniture: Export value was US$868 million, a year-on-year decrease of 37.1%. Exports to the United States were US$182 million, a year-on-year decrease of 47.7%. Australia followed with US$124 million, a year-on-year decrease of 18.5%. Exports to Singapore showed a significant increase of 75.5%.
Wooden Office Furniture: Export value was US$1.132 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 22.0%. Exports to the United States were US$298 million, a year-on-year decrease of 24.1%. Japan followed with US$92 million. Exports to Singapore decreased by 64.1% year-on-year.
Other Wooden Furniture: Export value was US$7.947 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 5.0%. Exports to the United States were US$2.496 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%. This was followed by the United Kingdom and Australia, with export values of US$507 million and US$424 million, respectively.
Bamboo Furniture: Export value was US$188 million, a year-on-year decrease of 3.0%. Exports to the United States were US$58 million, a year-on-year decrease of 3.6%. Exports to Germany were US$20 million, a year-on-year decrease of 8.2%.
Wooden Seating Furniture: Export value was US$7.314 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 12.6%. Exports to the United States were US$1.798 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 32.4%. This was followed by the United Kingdom and Australia, with export values of US$750 million and US$563 million, respectively. Exports to South Korea saw a notable decline, decreasing by 29.8% year-on-year.
Wooden Parts for Furniture and Seating Furniture: Export value was US$1.83 billion, a year-on-year increase of 54.7%. Exports to Malaysia were US$159 million, a year-on-year increase of 44.8%. Exports to Australia, Thailand, and the Philippines also increased significantly, by 54.1%, 99.9%, and 77.2% year-on-year, respectively.
